Our Story
3 GENERATIONS. 7 DECADES.
Our story began in 1946. Edward O. Bollinger—a World War II army veteran—believed his spirit of service could make a difference in Carroll County, Maryland. With the help of his wife June, Edward O. Bollinger Agency, Inc. was born.
Guided by our mission to protect the lives and businesses of our clients, the Bollinger Agency grew, and in the 1970s Edward’s sons, Mark and Dave, graduated from college and joined their father’s agency.
In 1984, the Bollinger Agency merged with another local provider, Barnes Insurance, to create Barnes-Bollinger, allowing the growing business to offer more services and protect more clients in Carroll County.
Enter Ann Bollinger. In 2007, Dave and Mark persuaded their sister, Ann, to join the family business. She agreed and, as a trusted business risk advisor, has helped countless business owners.
Emily Bollinger, Dave’s oldest daughter, graduated from college in 2008 and returned to Westminster to be close to family. She joined the company that summer and it wasn’t long before she became an account manager and endeared many new clients. In 2019, Emily became the first female partner of Barnes-Bollinger, helping to lead the 15 dedicated team members in our Westminster office.
Barnes-Bollinger is a well-respected and enduring establishment in both Carroll County and the national insurance industry. Dave, Mark, Ann, and Emily have all served on boards and delegations for major insurance carriers, using their insights to shape the landscape of the risk management industry.
Today, like generations ago, Barnes-Bollinger remains dedicated to helping our clients protect what matters most.
